Submission Guidelines So what're we after? Fiction. That's it. It can be any genre, as long as it's good. If you really want to get an idea of what we'd like, read a copy of [untitled] to sample our tastes. Also, we have a policy that if you've been published in an issue, you cannot be published in the next issues. This is to give other new and emerging writers exposure. You can still submit, and we'll still consider your work for later issues, but just keep that buffer in mind. As for our submission requirements, they're few and very simple:
* please email your submissions as Word attachments to email.at.untitledonline.com.au
* please remove your name from your submission, and instead include a separate cover page which includes:
-- your name
-- contact details (particularly an email address)
-- the name of your piece and word count
* 8,000 words maximum. If you have a story that's longer, please contact us to discuss it. Don't just send it thinking that our version of Word doesn't have a word count, or that we'll be so floored by the story's magnificence that we'll forgive the submission guideline transgression. Our sweet spot, however, is 3,000-5,000 words.
* use a Serif font. If you're wondering what a 'Serif' font is, it's a font where the letters have tails, like Times New Roman, Georgia, and Garamond. These fonts actually make it easier to read on-screen.
* 1.5 line spacing, which is something else that makes reading easier.
Please observe our guidelines. It makes our jobs so much easier, and us so much happier. And you want happy editors reading your material, right? |
